Brink’s 150

One hundred and fifty years ago, Perry Brink had a horse-drawn delivery wagon—and a dream. With the determination and ingenuity that would define the company, Mr. Brink made his first delivery on May 5, 1859, and Brink’s City Express was born.

Today, Brink’s is a global leader in business and security services. Thousands of companies, including banks, retailers, governments, mints, diamantaires and jewelers, trust Brink’s 800 facilities and 8,900 vehicles in 50 countries on six continents with the secure transportation and management of their most precious assets.

To celebrate 150 years of the people, trust and innovation that have made Brink’s the de facto symbol of security throughout the world, Brink’s has created this special website and a coffee table book that will chronicle the company’s history with never-before-seen-photos and little-known history from humble beginnings in Chicago to its global leadership today—a story that is as much about American history as it is about the company itself.

In addition, Brink’s will mark this distinguished occasion with a special anniversary logo, customer and employee events, a collectible die-cast Brink’s truck, and much more.

Thank you for visiting our anniversary site.  We look forward to celebrating our 150th anniversary with you.

Brink’s 150 Years / 150 Scholarships

In honor of the company’s rich Chicago heritage and to commemorate 150 years of driving trust, The Brink’s Foundation has established a special program to fund $150,000 in scholarship funds for Chicago-area public high school students in 2009.

Through the program, The Brink’s Foundation will award 1,000 scholarships based on a combination of academic performance and potential, leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, statement of career and educational aspirations and goals, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal.

Michael T. Dan, Brink’s president and chief executive officer, said the new program exemplifies the company’s deep commitment to the communities its serves and an unwavering belief in the value of education.

"Our work culture is one of hard work and ingenuity, bolstered by education—whether in our own classes or in university courses," Dan said. "This scholarship program provides new opportunities to the students of Chicago, just as the city of Chicago provided new opportunities to Perry Brink over 150 years ago.  We think it a fitting tribute as we embark on our next 150 years.”
